Hi everyone, the last few weeks have been quite stressful, and I havn't had the time to update things here.  Some folks would have seen some updatesand questions via the lissencephaly loop.  In the days leading upto 19th May Beth started looking up and to one side and staring fixedly.  At first we were not sure whether she was just taking an interest in something (she likes looking at patterns of light), but as this behaviour repeated and she was not as responsive during it, we started suspecting it was a form of seizure.

Anyhow this was the beginning of our sunday morning trip to the emergency department of the hospital, and a five day long stay.  We came home with medication which is controlling things but we have been adjusting the dose a little since then and getting back to normal.  As seizures will be an ongoing part of Beth's life and as there is also likely to be changes in the type and frequency of seizure, along with changes in medications etc, I have setup a new section which will have all the details of this - Seizures.  Please go there to read more about all that has happened of late, as it has been primarily around seizures.

Other than a little drowsiness Beth does not seem to have had any issues with the medication which is great.  We were greatly encouraged by the fact that the physio said that really Beth has come through this the best way she could have - picked it up early, medication worked without any real issues, etc.  So we are thanking the Lord for his goodness to us all.

Beth does seem to have become a little more "gurgly" in terms of feeding from her bottle, and the speechy has got us thickening up the formula a little and we are going to go for a test to check and make sure her swallow is all ok in the next couple of months.  More detail in the developmental updates section.
